One-liner
A billing plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH): compute the live session cost using DeepSeek’s official peak/off-peak pricing, show the running total in the TUI status bar, and print a whale ASCII receipt via /billing; it also ships a Web UI.
What it does
- Live token monitoring: listens to DS Harness token usage and converts it into cost using DeepSeek’s official peak/off-peak pricing (different rates for high/low load periods).
- TUI status-bar integration: the running cost is shown directly in DSH’s TUI status bar — you always know the tab while coding.
- Receipt: type
/billingto print a formatted whale ASCII receipt — turning “how much did I spend” into a storable, shareable visual artifact. - Web UI: the same billing logic exposed as a web page for non-terminal scenarios.
How it was built with AI
This is my own vibe-coded project, and a practice in LLM tool / API numerical-interface design:
- Built as a DSH plugin, following its
dsh-plugininterface conventions for lifecycle and event hooks. - Modeled peak/off-peak billing from the official price sheet, handling tier switches and cumulative stats.
- Published as an
npmpackage with GitHub source + npm install entry points, closing the loop from code to distribution for an open-source utility.
Technical highlights
- TypeScript, DSH plugin development, npm publishing
- Peak/off-peak tiered pricing model; TUI + Web dual rendering
- ASCII receipt generation (persistent, storable)
Takeaways
dsh-billing-tui represents my ability to “turn a real idea into a usable tool quickly with AI”: a complete utility that fits into someone’s toolchain, with clear pricing logic and npm distribution — fully vibe-coded outside internship hours.
